:D Hi every one
I have a few questions for the Lever-action fans & Rossi owners!.

I have a Blued 24 inch barreled Puma(I think?)or M92 half round & half octaganal,in 44mag that I bought from an interstate gundealer here in Australia(2nd hand)
It's a nice rifle,well looked after and not much use.
The gun dealer just said it was a Rossi M92,but I want some info on it,so here I am asking my fellow hunters and gun owners.
I bought the Rossi to replace my Ruger Super Redhawk in 44 mag 91/2inch version,plus several others that I had to hand in because of our goverments STUPIDITY in acting,before thinking it over,but don't get me started on that.
What I want to know is
 
1)Is there a manual for this gun & where can I get one?
I've tried here but no luck,yet!

2) I want to get a different sight arrangement for the gun & was thinking of getting a peep sight or reciever sight,what do you think would be more appropriate?.

3)What are the Rossi's specs eg: Bore dia  what the wood they use for the stock etc etc.?

4) How would you rate the Rossi in the strength area,compared to other lever actions?

5) What would the Rossi handle in the way of reloads,would they  handle at least maximum pistol loads & published rifle loads for the .44mag?

6)What would you recommend that I do,to slick up the action as it is a bit tight,not much use it's had.

7)I want to try paper patching the .44mag,is it possible? & what size bullet should I go for eg: .41 cal cast???.
I went on a hunt with the Rossi in September for a whole week in Queensland with a few mates.
We got a lot of game that week,the Rossi did very well, got  9 pigs & 14 feral goats we did,good week it was. :grin:

What are the markings on the barrel and receiver? That should tell who the importer and maker is. There should be an importer in Australia who imported your Rossi. You should be able to get a manual from them.

If you run dry in Australia you can contact the Rossi website in Brazil. You can email them and they should be able to send you a manual. The only thing is the website is in Portuguese. http://www.rossi.com.br/ But I can see if I can scan one of my manuals and send you an email. If the scanner is working.

As for the strength of the receiver. Just about everything that I have read seems to have the Rossi 92 stronger than the Winchester 94 and the Marlin 1894. This statemant may get a fued started but the reality of this all is that Rossi is the only lever action manufacturer to produce a lever action that will hold up to the pressures of the 454 Casull. No other manufacturer can claim that and NO Marlin diehard can disproof it. Neither Winchester or Marlin have a lever action in 454 Casull. To me seeing is believing. Enough said.

For advice on the other items other members can give you better information.

Marbles Tang Sight

no3, I have a Puma (Rossi imported by Legacy Sports) in 454 Casull. I would suggest that you slug the bore if you plan to shoot cast bullets. My Puma slugged at .4529, diffinitely a little larger than normal for current 45 Colt/454 Casull barrels.

Regarding a sight, I'm going to buy one of the Marbles Tang sights. They are spendy, but should fit in the existing holes on your Puma. As I remember, the longer barreled Pumas had two holes in the tang and Marbles makes a sight ready to bolt onto it. The Marbles Tang sight is adjustable for windage and elevation, unlike the Lyman which is only adjustable for elevation. Turbo

I believe that the terms "peep" and "receiver" regarding sights refer to the same thing, unless you are talking about the tang peep versus the receiver peep.  The tang peep sight looks more in keeping with the lever rifle, but I think the receiver sight would be stronger.  This is strictly opinion based on my viewing the tang sights.  I have always had receiver types (Williams Foolproof or WGRS) on the rifles I shoot, including the Winchester 88 I am currently using.  Something about learning to shoot with the M1 Garand...

these two will give you a good start.  Williams 5D on the receiver if you don't change loads often.  Marble's tang has windage, Lyman doesn't but both have to be handled a little more carefully since they stick out to hang on things more easily.  Receiver sight less obtrusive, tang more authentic.
