Met mine in a fillin' station. For all you youngin's, that is where you used to buy gasoline. Pull in and the attendant came out and filled your gas tank. While he was doing that he also checked your oil and water and cleaned your windshield. Some people with a lot of education called them service stations but all us hicks called them fillin' stations. I walked inside to pay for my gas and there she was paying for gas too. That was in late 1957. She was still in high school and I had graduated the year before in a different state. In early 1959 we tied the knot.

I was a powerlifter (now I'm an old fart), and a member at a gym, where she was a fitness instructor. We would visit a little when we ran into each other at the gym  and were friends for several years, but never dated. One day I asked her out, and the rest is history.

I stepped in to break up a heated discussion between a young lady and a smart-ass.  That was over fifty-one years ago.  Sometimes I ask myself, "Why do you get involved in other folks business?" It has been wonderful, three years of wedding bliss and 47 years of mortal combat...........just kidding. We celebrated our 50th last June, I would do it all over again! ;)

My wife lived next door to where I lived in an apartment with two other guys. Her mom saw what was going on there and hated me from day one.

She told her I was just using her and would dump her the first chance I got.

I haven't got the chance yet and it will be  our 20th anniversary this April first. ;D

I met my wife in HS in foods class. She was kind of the teachers pet, and I kind of took the class because the story around school was that it was an easy class, and you didn't have to show up all the time to pass it. My wife to be would take roll for the teacher and when I cut class she would turn me in. One day one of my buddies from class said "hey, that girl over there wants to go out with you."  I said yeah, I bet, why then does she always turn me in for cutting class.
That was 34 years ago, and since that time we have spent our lives together.

For a marriage to last it has to be total commitment from both. Marriage does not just happen and then everything falls into place. It does take a lot of work for it to last till death do you part.

Marriage is like a bed of roses, along with the thorns.

She was a WAF (Women's Air Force) and newly assigned to Luke AFB.  Her first morning her room mate brought her to breakfast at the dinning hall.  I usually gave her roommate a ride to work.  So I met her, and made a date right off the batt.

The rest of the day when the other single airmen of the squadron ask her out she said her new boy friend might not like it.  They asked her who that was, and she replied SSgt Hunter.  They came screaming to me saying I never gave them a chance.  Too bad.  That was in August of 1976, we were married in June 1977.  It's been a wild and wonderful ride this last 32 years.  We waited 13 years to have a son, she wanted to make sure I was suitable to be the father of her child.  In those 13 years we went everywhere, and did everything we wanted to do.

I still feel real pride when she and I enter a room and the eyes of the men in the room follow her as I lead her to her seat.  She is still a hot looking little red head at the age of 52.  All 4'11"s of her.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I generally tell folks I bought her at the grocery store but that's not exactly true. I didn't really pay for her so I guess it would be more honest to say I shop lifted her.  :o

I worked at Kroger Grocery as a bag boy in those long ago days. She was there with some friends washing car windows for money for a class trip I think it was. I let her talk me into washing my car windows and she let me talk her into a date. A year or so later we were married. Last September was 44 years ago we got married.

BTW she's a lousy window washer. My windows weren't much cleaner after than before.

I was on the strip in Va. Beach and she came up and started talking . Been married almost 31 years and shes still talking .
A buddy and I had been turkey hunting that morning and decided to go to the beach and fish . Well back then you could still cruise and we were . I had not had any sleep for about 30 hours . This car load of girls had beed following us around . We stopped to get something to eat and he goes in as do the girls . I told him they were high school girls and I waited  in the car . So my wife comes walking up to see if I was OK and the rest is history . We lived a little over a hundred miles apart so i had to marry her or go broke buying gas.

Started not to reply here cause I don't have an "old" story. I'm on my second go around, This woman really loves me! We've been together since 01, And I'm happier than I have ever been in my life. Don't think I could run her off, did I say she really loves me? Shows me everyday, We've got 7 kids, all grown, and she treats mine(4) like they are her own. their mother passed away in 99.

I guess the moral of the story is you learn as you live, and Priorities are important. This woman believes in me and believes in God,She shows that in everything she does. I am blessed in that she loves me! As I am a work in progress.

I was told you Love someone because they make you feel good about yourself! May sound weird but think about it. it is true.

It was the grocery store !  This is wifey typing now...I was at a wedding dance with a girl I worked with and asked who this guy was with a girl named Michelle (we are distant relation).  A week or so later I was working at the grocery store and he came in after work to pick up items for his lunch pail...yes I said pail.  Anyway, my customer left and I didn't have any customers waiting.  I turned around and who should I see?  That nice looking guy from the dance.  I asked him if I could help him and he brought his items to my check-out line.  He seemed embarrassed  about how dirty he was from auto body work.  I brushed it off and said something nice about the fact that he just got off work.  So, every once in a while I would see him in the store and he would always come to my line so I could wait on him.  I already knew his brother and sister-in-law, so when the two brothers came in together, there was double trouble.  Some weeks later I saw my hubby at a different wedding dance and since I was with another guy, hubby assumed we were dating, but I told him we were not a couple.  Then a couple months later we went out on our first date to a wedding dance for a first cousin of mine.  The rest is history.  Not only do we keep the communications lines open, but we also do not lie to one another and make sure we get the hell out of Dodge alone every 6 months.   We will be married 18 years in the spring and if I'm broke, he's broke...there is no yours or mine.  It all belongs to us!!!!!!!
