side to side movement

I just finished changing out the stock and forend on one of my handi's from wood to synthic.now i have noticed side to side movement with the barrel when closed.the forend dosen't fit up tight  to the frame like the factory one did.So here is the?????? Do i need to change back to wood or shim the barrel. lock up is tight.no up or down movement just side to side.

recommend you check the FAQ's section on barrel fitting.....i'd use the "feeler gauge method" you'll find in there to see what'a going on there with your gun......

It needs to be shimmed or fitted better, there should be no movement when the action is closed, the forend can make a loose barrel seem tight when installed. A little movement at the breech end of the barrel equates to a noticeable change in POI at 100yds, so inaccuracy results if the barrel isn't in the same position each it locks up.

I was wanting to make sure.I just went to auto zone and picked up a set of feeler gauges the thinnist one i could find was..0015 then goes up by 5 will these work.

Yes, the .0015" will work, but are the increments .005" or .0005"? Usually they increase in size .001" which are what you want.

The thinnest one is 0015 then 002 then0025 .they go up from there. these were the thinnest ones i could find.

Tim thank you for the help and advice.I checked it last nite and if i am doing it right the 0015 should be want i need.I will let you know how it turns out.Will try to fix it today.Can't do much else raining here.
