Where is Gizmo?
« on: January 14, 2010, 03:10:20 PM »
I swear I've been to a town named Gizmo, but I can't remember what state it was in. Can you help? It's driving me crazy!

Thanks for the valiant effort, GB, but that's not the one. It seemed to me it was near Alabama on the Florida panhandle, but after thinking about it some more that was Gaskin.

Nope, not Gitmo, Gizmo. I'm trying to think of all the places with weird names I've been to. I never quite made it to Hell, but Ann Arbor is close by and I've been there.

I looked for about a half hour last night and could not find Gizmo. I gave up. I finally told myself that I cared no longer whether Gizmo existed or not. ;)

Objectively I know you're right, and thanks for the confirmation, but I still swear I was there. It was just a wide spot in the road kind of town big enough for a sign and a speed limit and not much else.

Maybe it was a joke sign. Or I guess it could have been a town that once was in exsistance. Or maybe its an unincorporated town thats so small, it just can't make anything to the internet.

This road trip didn't happen to take place sometime back in the 60s by any chance?   I heard that a lot of folks took trips to places that didn't physically exist back then.   ;)  ;D

There are thousands of named nameless places/towns in the US.
There are two towns with the same name in Texas.
I believe there is a Gizmo and he has been there.
