What will a republican win in November mean?
« on: January 13, 2010, 10:31:35 PM »
Will the turkeys blow it again after seeing that they can be rewarded after making a shambles of the economy and starting a chain of insane domestic policy disasters with a slap-on-the-wrist penalty of being out of power for only a year?

Will Michael Steele be replaced with somebody that's not publicly pessimistic about the future of the party? Or are they stuck with him because he's black?

Or are conservative candidates coming out of the woodwork and aligning with the republican party for practical reasons?

Hard to tell right now.

I am hoping for political gridlock.

If they can't get anything done they won't do near the harm.

A Republican win in November would mean business as usual.   Maybe a little more divisive posturing by the two flocks of bantam roosters.

Divisive posturing is good. So is gridlock. This implies that I'm hoping for a return to an ineffectual legislative that accomplishes nothing except raising their own pay.

BS!!!!  It will mean, at the very least, a dramatic slowing to the runaway race to socialism that a filibuster proof democrap Senate and majority democrap House have given us.

So our greatest hope is having a legislative doing nothing. Makes me wonder what we need them for. What do we need them for? Oh yea, to keep the executive in check, sometimes.

Sad aint it?  But that about sums it up.  What we need really is total reversal of a things done during the Bush administration, and everything done since Obama got in.  I'm sorry to say that I don't see that happening, and unless they do exactly that, all we have is doing nothing as stated above.
And if we do nothing, the things already passed through legislation will take us down anyway.  Since I have not heard republicans talking about total reversal through legislation on things passed....I have to say they are not up to the task.  They should be actually saying to us their intentions are total reversal.  Why aren't they?

The best possible scenario in DC would be a storm so bad the politicos couldn't get to work for a few months. Stated another way anything they do is bad for us.

Hopefully, nothing.

Sadly, probably, it'll mean a breakneck scramble to hit reverse while travelling at warp, instead of a slow steady pressure on the brakes. Money will fly out in new and different directions, bills will be rewritten to sound more palatable but hit the streets with just as much cost.

I'll be curious to see how the passage of the FY11 federal budget fares, if they'll stall out in sep/oct in ancitipation or hurry up at the last minute to stick the bill to the new guys.

At least it will break the fillibuster proof situation and you might actually see what the legislation contains before it gets voted on.
