Which rings for Tikka WH?
« on: October 29, 2003, 05:51:07 AM »
Hello, I have a WH on the way and am ordering a scope and rings also. My question is which rigs will mount up to the dovetail on the gun. (I know that the tikka optilock rings and bases will work but at around 80-100$ a set I think Ill pass).
Also with a 40mm objective and 1" tube can I get away with medium rings or will I need to get high ones?

Thanks for our help,
Thomas :D

Your Tikka may come with rings, many of the new models do. If not, Brownells have them for under $50, made by Millett. see: http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=9129&title=ANGLE-LOC?%20SCOPE%20RINGS&s=22184#22184

With a 40mm OL, a medium should work fine.

I ordered the Leupold rings for my .308 Tikka. As it turned out they did not fit the short action and that was only the one size at the time. I was in a pinch so I exchanged them for the optilocks. They are good quality but are expensive and overly heavy and when they say high they mean really high.

Many here use  Warne scope mounts.  They have worked great on my Tkkas & Sako.  www.warnescopemounts.com  or 800-683-5590.  Enjoy your Tikka.

My WH came with rings as a special deal spring 2002. They are the Tikka rings (made by Millet I think. They are low rings. I have a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 mounted and it sets low. It has room between the obj lense ring and is very comfortable. Hope this helps. Good luck w/your Tikka.
