Missing screw on old Fieldmaster 572
« on: December 30, 2009, 12:16:13 PM »
I just found this blast from the past disassembled and wrapped in an old towel. I managed to reassemble it, less one missing screw (see top left). Any suggestions for a source for the missing screw?

It seems that the few Mom & Pop gun shops I used to visit have disappeared like lead shot for
waterfowl.

Thanks,

Tom

Hope the picture comes through!

Thats the barrel dowel screw, along with the required dowel washer.  You can check with Remington (parts #6 and #7 from the parts list), but you may have to search on line, or at some of the big parts supply places (Brownells, Numrich, ect)  Maybe Remington could at least give the dimensions so as to maybe find something in a hard ware store.

Off the top of my head I don't recall there being a screw there. Looks more like someone's attempt at shade tree gunsmithing to me. If tho one should be there Reminton likely can provide it and if not check with Gun Parts Corp. the old Numrich Arms Co..

Try http://www.midwayusa.com or http://www.e-gunparts.com
Looks like your missing the Barrel Dowel Screw and Barrel Dowel Screw Washer
Both Midway and Gun Parts appear to have the Barrel Dowel Screw in stock
The Barrel Dowel Screw Washer is out of stock at both but Midway states "Back order OK" :'(

So there really is a part that goes there that I didn't recall? I've never owned a 572 but have a 552 and have held 572s and just didn't recall anything there.
