Someone to work on FWB 124
« on: December 29, 2009, 05:42:51 PM »
I live in Fort Collins and have a good Feinwerkbau 124.  I would like to get it serviced.  Are threre authorized service persons in Colorado or should it be sent into the factory.

Hi Vacek:

I would not even attempt to send it back to the factory, it would probably cost more than the gun is worth, or at least half.   I would send it to Dave Slade, (http://www.airgunwerks.com/). he worked for Beeman, back in the day, and is one of the best airgun tuners around.  His nick name is the "trigger man,"  Because of his fine trigger work.  There are other tuner's that you could send it to, but Dave has done work for me and to many other airgun  shooters to mention.  I would contact him first and tell him what you want, or think needs done.

He tuned an RX 1 for me that was the most accurate piston gun that I have ever owned or shot, and I have had and shot almost all of them, TX's and Beeman's, and RWS's and on and on.

I will have to say that I never owned a Whiscombe, but I have shot a few, and there is no way to compair a factor air rifle to one of those 2000 plus dollar custom wonders!

Jim

Thank you for this great information.  The 124 has to be the finest overall airgun I have ever shot.  It kept the family and I in small game protein for a lot of years.  My wife would stalk ahead of me, shoot the bunnies and I would follow behind doing the skinning a cleaning.  We actually took quite a few Bobwhites as well.

I use it now to control the starling population.

"The 124 has to be the finest overall airgun I have ever shot. "   As I said I have owned most of them, and there is no doubt that the 124 is the finest barrel cocking air rifle ever made!  I loved mine, and I am sorry that I traded it away........

You could also google Paul Watts or Mac1. They do air gun tunes. I have had good luck with Mac1 and I've read many good things about Paul's work.

Charlie has been around for a few years too but I haven't done any business with him.

Echoing LameRabbit, I've got to think that David Slade is the go to guy for repair on an FWB 124.

I've never owned a 124 but I did have Mr. Slade do some things for me over the years, like a full-on venom kit conversion to one of my Webley Omegas that I shot air rifle silhoutte with back in the day.

As he used to work at Beeman's, I've got to imagine that he's worked on more than a few FWB 124s and 127s.

Does anyone know if Mr. Slade at AIRGUNWERKS in Minor Hill Tenn is still doing business?

That is close to my home and I could hardly believe the address.

I plan to stop by there next with my broken FWB 124 so he can look at it.

This is my first post.  Great site.
