Whats the twist rate on a TC barrel and I was also told that the lighter the bullet the less recoil you will have , Is this true?

Twist rate varies between cals. Recoil will vary between bullet weight in some of you larger calibers. Take the 357Max. for example shooting 200gr. bullets will have more recoil than shooting 158gr. bullets.

Yes I like the Encore platform, like the extra heft, but I have more Contenders and G2's then Encores ;D
And Kyode you know we're all brothers under the skin in that we like the T/C's offerings.

Here is my favorite encore, it is a 7-08, mix and match hardware.  It isn't fancy but it sure puts the game down!!

 :P ;)

both pictured are 15" barrels. the top one a factory 7mm-08 with laminate forend from tonysforendsandgrips.com.
the bottom one in black ware is a virgin valley custom 6br. the forend on it is just a factory composite rifle model with aluminum pillars added by a friend. both forends are actually aluminum pillar bedded to help float the barrels as much as possible. the only contact is at the screw attach points.

that .243 is dandy asquires2 ! you should really like it. i had a 15" .243 for a while, but whittled away some of my encores. i kept the 6br. they are reasonably close performers.

I didnt know the rifle forearm would fit on a pistol, looking good! I just called around for some prices on a trigger and the best I found was $75 for a 2.5lbs trigger. How did you manage to get the rifle forearm to work?

Rite on , I had a Remmy 700 in a 243 and loved it but I was bound for trouble with it cause I couldnt hunt with it in a rifle so I got it in a pistol, TOTALLY LEGAL! I just hope it shoots as good as my Remmy.

Those are some fine Encores. Absolutely beautiful. I just have one silly question. Wouldn't you get into some trouble if the wrong somebody saw a barrel 16 inches or longer with a pistol grip on it ? I thought they had to have a rifle stock on them with that length. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

you can use any length you want on a handgun. some states may not allow the same....such as ny i've heard.
you just can't use short barrels on a rifle.

Quote
How did you manage to get the rifle forearm to work?

there are a few methods i can think of......
1....use an adapting hanger bar from a custom maker
2....have the barrel drilled for an extra hole to accomodate the rifle spacing(my 6br)
3....have a custom forend made(my 7-08) the laminate forend actually has all 3 holes to use either way

OK I flipped through the net to find a hanger bar and from what Im getting Im gonna need a hanger bar for a factory barrel , could you lead me in the right direction to find it . What I found is , Im thinking , Ill have to order the forend with the bar.

mmmmmm.....i believe mgm (match grade machine) is a board sponsor here, with a banner ad. ya can get one there.....or from their dad at "stratton custom". regardless, mgm can give you the info you need for a hanger bar.
the larger forearms are a major improvement to an encore handgun imo.

I have seen many Encore with barrels longer than 16" being shot as pistols.   The only stipulation that I can find is that a RIFLE can have a barrel NO SHORTER than 16" with an overall length of more than 26".

This is my 50AK that I shoot as a pistol and a rifle.
