Anybody shoot a 1:20 twist, if so what are you shooting for loads, what kind of accuracy?

Thanks, Steve

I don't quote personal loads, but it would be hard for anybody to do when a caliber/barrel length is not given.

I shoot a rare CVA Siber target pistol, 45 caliber, 10 1/2" barrel 1:22 with 12 lands/grooves.    It will take the eye out of a gnat.

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

I had an Omega, briefly, that I never fired but did some extensive research about.  A 1:20 barrel ain't gonna shoot worth a dang with PRB (except with light loads up to, maybe, 50 yards).  You have to use Minies, sabots, or something like the power belts.  There's a modern muzzle loading forum that might be of more help to you--lots of different loads, etc.  Here, the TRADITIONAL muzzle loading forum is going to have more information on the more traditional rifles--which are mostly 1:40 and slower.

Sounds like your describing the TC White Mountain Carbine. Try long heavy conicals and saboted bullets for your best accuracy. Problem is in that length of barrel about 70-80 grains of powder is all it will shoot good with. Some guys are using 500 grain conical to good effect but it's gonna be a thumper on both ends

TTBOMK, the White Mountain Carbine is the only TC percusion side lock to come from the factory equiped with a recoil pad and they put in on there for good reason.  Walt

"the only TC percusion side lock to come from the factory equiped with a recoil pad"

Nope, Renegade Big Bore has a pad also. It's the same as a Ren Hunter but with the added factory pad.

Tight twist barrels will shoot PRB just as accurate as slower twist barrels.
I have a .54 w/ a 1-24 twist, .530" ball, .015" t/c patch, 90grs. FFFg=
If I take my time and w/ enough sun I can keep 5 touching @ 60 yds., 100 yds. I can keep them to around 3".
Thats w/ a v rear sight and a blade front.
I'd like to have a nice peep sight put on it but, all the good looking sights that I've seen are on antique Jaeger and Scheutzen rifles.
