Survivor .223 Bull Barrel

First off I just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas

2nd I am considering adding one of these to my collection with some Christmas money from my wife. I just like the looks of the stock , its quite a bit different then my other rifles. So could someone who has one please let me know how these things shoot? Does the comb hieght work well with optics etc? Does the stock fit nice and feel soild?

I have one in 308. The comb is a bit low for optics even in low rings. I had to build up the comb with foam sleeping mat to get to the righ comfortable height. Other then that I love the stock.

I like the looks of the gun alot and was wondering about the comb height but like you mentioned there are always options to get a custom fit for the shooter. Anyone else have one of these guns?

i can't tell ya nutt'n about the survivor stock.. but i can tell ya bout the .223
heavy barrel that i have. the survivor stocks lasted for about 5 minutes after i got it out of the box.
 the .223 barrel can be load developed to your like'n. if you handload you can make it perform
excellent. i have heard that 55gr wb winny's do a great job for factory ammo.

end result is.... mine shoots better than i can,  go for it !!!!! ;D

I do not have one of these, but I do have a 223HB Handi CAN IT SHOOT!!!

I also have a 308 Survivor and it too is quite a shooter, but I haven't shot this extensively for accuracy. I have recently re-chambered this for the 307 Winchester. Since rechambering the one load I have tried will shoot pretty darn good!!



 I say go for it!!

well CW, that looks like a black bull posted at 100 yards and held up with a thumb tack. 1 sighter @ 2" low, up 8-10 .25" clicks and then a 10 shot group that would strike fear into the heart of any coyote. Good shooting buddy....<><....:)


go ahead, now tell me it was at 200-300 yards!!!

I like the Survivor stock for cold weather. The slightly shorter LOP and lower comb work for me with a few layers on. Last used on a 30-30, with a Bushnell Banner 1.5x-4-5x in low rings.

 More accurately, the hole at the top is not a bullet hole or thumb tack. Its in all targets from this manufacturer. Kinda like a display/hanging hole. The bottom hole, IIRC was a called flier. Then I shot ten rounds to kinda prove it was such. The range was 50yards, IIRC. I joined a new range earlier this year and they have a 200 yard range, but I haven't used it yet. Mostly I shoot @ 50. Then move to 100 to ck.

Choate also makes a raised check piece in 2 sizes for the Survivor stocks a tall and a low one I have both and they work very well. The tall one is on the 22-250 Survivor camo stock and the low is on the .223 Ultra Varmint stock. Kurt

Thanks Guys,

I do hunt wearing heavy weight clothing so if the length of pull is shorter then my current monte carlo stock then that would be great as i have trouble depending on my body position with being able to maintain the correct eye relief when wearing my hunting coat. I'm glad that its shorter than the standard stocks. Are those raised cheek pieces from Choate hard plastic or padded?
