« on: December 22, 2009, 03:05:28 PM »
When I was mounting a one piece weaver base on my encore I noticed it doesn't take  a lot of pressure to move the front of the base down will this cause any problems and when using shotshell plastic for a shim were do place it and how big of piece
                                               Thanks

The shot shell shims that Keith and I refer to go under the forend...not the scope base.  If you have to shim the base(I would hope not...but it's not unheard of)I don't think I'd want plastic.  I don't get any movement from my weaver bases ???

MGM makes a steel base that is contured to fit the encore barrels so you dont have any clearance on the front end and this will also take care of the problem if your base is moving, I think they are around 40.00 and come in stainless or blue.

I know the plastic goes under the foreend do you punch holes in it and put it at the screws or somewhere else. and for the scope mounts just wondering if anyone had problems with the weaver base

There is a bit of gap on the weaver mount. It will flex because it is aluminum. I've never had a problem with them. My VVCG mount has a little gap too. But still works great!!! Good luck!!! And Merry Christmas!!!!

I poke a hole in the shim small enough so it stays on the forearm screw.  I trim the plastic shim so it doesn't show above the forearm.

You can also use o rings for floating a forearm, but you loose the magic.
