White Mountain carbine killed again
« on: December 22, 2009, 02:52:49 PM »
I shot my eight deer with my White Mountain Carbine the other day. Big doe. Shooting 70 grains of pyrodex RS with a 240 grain Hornaday sabot, open sights. My carbine has a QLA barrel, I bought it just before they quit making them, anyone have any info on hthis gun?

Don' have any info in particular on them, but I know they were around fer quite a while. A lady used to shoot one in our local Mloading matches ten or more years ago. Did pretty good with it using PRBs and light charges of 2F. I recall she used it fer deer huntin too, with big conicals. Seemed like a good gun to me at the time.

BTW, be careful about using the "S" word in this forum. ;)

It's a great little fast twist carbine.
I've shot round ball out to 50 yards, with good results, but they were designed to shoot bullets.
I have shot about every weight bullet they make in the WM and it loves them. I use real black powder and about 80 grns of 2f is the norm for most projectiles in mine. I use a lot of 3f goex and use about 10% less than the 2f. More bang for the buck. ;D
the right/left yardstick is a French Revolution-born human measure. It reflects the political spectrum, which is determined by the people’s range of beliefs. Christians, however (and everyone, in fact), should make Truth their yardstick. This inerrant guide doesn’t compromise and build consensus, either; it’s not a politician. It dictates where reality lies. And in a civilization claiming 2+2=5, it’s with the “extremist” who insists it’s 4. For God’s realism so often is man’s radicalism.
