Price of an SB2 357 handi
« on: December 18, 2009, 01:07:04 PM »
What's the going price for a blued, synthetic, SB2 framed 357 handi.  Brand new at Gander for $249, isn't that just the regular MSRP on it.  Anyone got em cheaper in the tax burdened commonwealth of KY.

That's a reasonable price for any new SB2, SB1 357s sell for a little less usually, Bud's sells the SB1 for $209 shipped for comparison. Are you sure it's an SB2? Just because the barrel says SB2 doesn't mean it is, the SB1 will have a statement on the right side of the frame on what barrels can be fitted, other than special orders, which Gander does, the SB2 357mag was only available with a wood stock.

As for Kentucky, I'd check with Bud's and Whittakers, Bud's has the SB1 357/20ga slug combo for $287 shipped, you'd have to call Whittaker's, they don't list current inventory, either are great to do business with.

I guess I'll have to look at it a bit closer.  I don't remember where the SB2 was stamped (barrel or receiver)  I do remember the prefix on the ss# was CCA.  I can get the gun guy to check and see what is on the box.  They had a 44 mag too also 249.  In checking the HR1871 site they don't offer the SB2 frame but only an SB1 frame so I reckon it is an SB1.  Is that good, bad or doesn't matter.

Frames have never been marked SB1 or SB2, just the barrels which doesn't mean squat, barrels are made long before they're put on a frame, CAC is an SB1 frame, CCA may be the next code for an SB2 also since the first year that Remington owned H&Rs were CBA(may 2008 on).   ;)

I bought that same 357 from Gander here in MN.  Mine says SB2 on the barrel, but it definitely is a SB1 frame as it says shotgun, 357 and 44 mag only engraved right on it.

I conversed with Quick before I bought it, so I knew what I was getting into.  I don't have any complaints on it so far.  I will be reaming it to a max here shortly so we'll see how that goes.  I guess I could have bought from Bud's for $209, but the FFL's around here want $40 anyways so it would have been a wash and I got to have it that day at Gander.
