Tikka T3 300WSM

I finally recieved my TIkka T3 Lite in 300wsm. I mounted a Leuplod VXII 2x7x33 on it. Wanted to keep it lite for some much anticipated Dall sheep hunts. Went to the range to break in the barrel/sight in. WOW! Never in my wildest dreams. Made a few shots to zero the scope. Once it was zeroed I made five shots @ 100yds producing 3 holes under an inch using winchester 150gr ballistic tips. Then 3 shots @ 100 yds producing 1 slightly egged out hole using winchester 180 grain fail-safes. Not sure if I can do that again---maybe beginners luck?! Pretty pleased to say the least. Although I am no gun expert, I am pleased with the overall fit and finish of the gun. I dont much care for the shiny bolt---may have it sand blasted (not sure of the proper term) to more resemble the finish of the barrel. Maybe a pachmyer recoil pad---she does jump off the bench a bit. Anyway, a big thumbs up from a new Tikka owner!

No fluke----FINALLY got my .270 and .223 T3's out this weekend.

.270:
Fired a total of 9 rounds---I bore sighted the gun---took 3 rounds to get it to POA---then shot two 3-shot groups---all touching----didn't shoot it anymore---what's the point??? it's sighted-in and ready to go:)

.223:
This is using crappy Winchester White Box ammo-----my initial bore sight was bad---4 shots--nothin-------re-bore sighted----4 shots to get to POA----then two 4-shot groups hovering around an inch-----not bad considering the ammo----with premium stuff I expect to get em all touching too. Still good enough to kill stuff as it is.

Used the remainder of the box shooting 200 yd gongs----pretty cool as it was getting dark and you could see sparks through the scope when the gong was hit.

Overall I'm EXTREMELY pleased with my Tikka's.

BTW---my .243 T3 has groups all touching too.

Also have to mention I've only tried ONE load in each of these rifles---first time out of the chute and I'm getting good groups.

Life is good sometimes.

.270---140gn Hornady Light Magnum
.243---100gn Federal Classic
.223---55gn Winchester White box.

OBG:
Try Hornady factory ammo, not the Lite Magnum in your 243. The 100gr BTSP. If you locate some give it a try. My WH shot it great before I started reloading.
