rear peep sight
« on: December 15, 2009, 04:07:01 AM »
Called H&R this morning looking for the Williams WGRS listed in a product catalog in my box.  Have a 2004  SB2  .223 that I had a .50 Huntmans fitted last Fall.  Reading this forum looks like lucky to get a barrel when I did in 2008.  Guy on phone said no barrels any longer, not sure if ever will and no parts either like the peep sight I was going to order.
Can any one help with a suggestion for rear peep sight for the .50 Huntman 26 inch blued barrel?  Late season MN muzzleloader does not allow scopes.  Iron sights at 100 yards leave too much room for error (human).
Thanks.

Huntsman barrels are scheduled for production early next year, call back and talk to someone else on the WGRS, it's the standard sight for the 45-70 Buffalo Classic, have them look up the sight for it, unless Williams is having a problem making them, they should have them. Waaay too much bad info coming from Madison, you can talk to 3 or 4 different CS reps and get 3 or 4 different answers!  ::) If they don't have it, Midway does, but H&R sells it for about $20 plus shipping which unfortunately is $10!  ???

Guy that took the call had a southern drawl. Not exactly Madison, WI if that was where the call was picked up.  Do their phones roll over to different departments in different parts of the country if they get busy? the brochure listed the Williams WGRS as $59. That was a 2004 brochure.

I looked up the sight with the Midway link you provided. Thanks.  This is much less complicated looking than the one in the H&R brochure for $59 that was in the box.

Madison NC, home of Remington. The sight you're looking at isn't the WGRS, that's the FP target, it's over $80 at Midway and H&R may not have it anymore since it was listed in the store which is gone now, see the Peep and Firesights link in the FAQs, all are listed there with source links.

You may need a taller front sight, something to consider when ordering, maybe someone else will offer advice on that.
