CZs!
« on: December 11, 2009, 03:46:39 AM »
I have ordered my fouth CZ!  In the last three years I have really gotten the bug for them. It all started when I went looking for a better that average .22lr and bought a 452 trainer, I was hooked. Since then I have upgraded or replace some of my guns with CZ rifles.

I just placed an order with my dealer for a 527 LUX in 223 Rem. It's comming from RSR group, I ordered sight unseen. The only one I've seen is the stock photo online. Does anyone have some photos for me to see? Also any comments on loads, likes or dislikes etc.

Congrats GoJoe!!! The 527 Lux is the next CZ on my list. I have a 452 Lux and mounted BrnoMann Match Target Sights on it and it's just a pleasure to shoot. Want to do the same with a 527 Lux. I don't feel you took any unnecessary chances by ordering sight unseen. I've ordered 5 out of 6 of my CZs sight unseen and all have been perfect.

And just to top it off ....... ;D

I placed an order with Natchez for a Leupold 2x7-33 WDX scope. This should make a very nice stalking rifle.  :D

yeah, that will work. Personally, if using a scope, my choice for a stalking rifle would have been the American M1 because it's a little lighter and shorter, perhaps a little easier to handle in a tight situation, and has no option for irons. I'd like the Lux (or FS) because of the iron sights. Really enjoy shooting the irons lately. That little 527 Carbine looks pretty nice too. All the CZs are nice. Happy you're getting another one Joe.

We now have at least 3 CZ rifles in the safe and all 3 mind you will shoot under 1-MOA from the bench. My wife's .223 and my .222 Remmy will both shoot 1/2 or under with Hornady factory ammo......I don't even handload for them anymore really. Not until we go on the P-dog hunt next spring.

I also like the idea of the "set trigger" on the rifle I shoot, it makes for nice tiny groups at the end of the bench session. No Flies on a CZ rifle!!!

Lot of folks swear by the "set trigger" and some folks swear at it. I've heard them say it makes the LOP to long, or that it increases the lock time one billionth of a nanosecond. ::)

I really like the set trigger on my 550. It's just about perfect in set mode. It has a little creep in regular mode but I've never bothered to adjust anything because the set mode works too well to even mess with it. So, I'm with you Tonk. ;)

I'd still like to see some photos of 527s. I understand that CZ has made changes to the stock checkering and also on one forum a guy reported that all cz527 with in 223 have 1:9 twist barrels.  I have no idea if the rifle I ordered is of late manufacture of not. It was the last one in inventory, we'll see this week.

No joy on the new style CZ. My dealer ordered from RSR there was one left in stock. Thats the one I got. The test target was done 06/07 so it must have been NOS. I did get a great price @$513 + the frt and dealers fees. $575 otd.  It has nice wood, But I really was hopeing for one with the 1:9 twist. Merry Christmas to me anyway, This with the Leupold 2x7x32 WDX scope is going to be a joy to carry in the woods.

I have a new 550 FS in 30-06 and took it to the range the other day.  I mounted a Luepold Vari-X II 3-9 40 mm scope on the supplied rings.  Perfect fit, no problen with bolt clearance.  "At first" I was a little unimpressed at 100 yards bench rested.  I was using the set trigger.  It was getting about a two inch group. I got it dialed in at 100 and then switched to the un-set trigger.  WOW!   Three shot grouping that
was .90 of an inch or less. They all fit in the 1 inch grid target with ease. Perfect vertical and horizontal impact. This was with a cool down between shots at about 4 minutes.  I was using Winchester Silver Box, Super X 165 grain PSP.  I am impressed for sure!  I also had a few curious bystanders and asked about the rifle.  I let them peek through the spotting scope and they were impressed as well.  They even said WOW! I was just wondering though. Why the difference in spread with the set and un-set trigger?  Any comments on this?  Not that I am complaining, with such a great shot group.  I am very happy. CZ's are unbelievable.  I can just imagine when I try other different loadings what kind of a grouping I can get, but actually there isn't a great need after what a fantastic grouping I got above.   ;D

Those CZ's with the set trigger are indeed an asset but you better be totally awake when you go to use that trigger. It is lighter than a flea on a dogs tail! Yes, I make sure I have had my 2 cups of coffee before I try and activate the one on my Triple Deuce. I missed two crows last week because I was not ready to really pull down on those birds. A mental slip up that can and will coast a hunter or shooter if your not at your best or full alert etc. ;D

Tonk

I have a 527 Hornet, and its original owner had the stock trigger re worked or perhaps set it himself
I'm going to have to look into lightening the rest of the group. The Calhoon I have has a real nice trigger as well. FS
