I have a set of Burris signature dual dovetail ring that I would like to use on a Weatherby Vanguard rifle I am thinking of buying. I can't find a set of dual dovetail bases for the Vanguard but did find a set for the Weatherby mark V rifle. Would these fit the Vanguard or am I stuck. Thanks, Don

Don't think so. I believe the Vanguard takes same base as the Remington 700. It is nothing but a Howa and the Howa's for sure take the same as the R700.

Will the 1 peice bases that are for the Rem 700 L/A work on the howa's?

Bearwolf ; Like GB said the howa and the 700 will take the same bases long action to long action and the short action for the short action,

Hum.. I bought the Remington 700 S/A 1-piece base and tried it on my howa 1500 in 308. The base was way off by about a 1/4 inch. :?

doninva - You might want to contact Burris directly and ask them. I had to contact Leupold about a set of bases for my Weatherby Varmint master because the rifle wasn't listed on the chart. The ones I thought might fit weren't even close! Good luck!

Bear; Any chanch that the package was mislabled, because all the manu. show the same base for the howas and the rem 700 so a short action rem 700 base should work.

I have had several Howa's and I always used Remington 700 bases and not a problem, but I never used the one piece, it was always the two piece. Call Jon at Optic Zone, thats were I get my bases and rings and let him know what you have. He always sends the right stuff.

Think I will just stick with the 2piece bases as those seem to fit decent and forget about the 1 piece base. I got the leupold rifleman rings and the bases, but the rear two piece hangs out a little more than I like (its longer than the other weaver type mounts that I have) so I am gonna stick with those rings and just find a shorter 2 piece weaver base and call it good.

If I could find a way to post or send someone a photo on here I would show you the 2 piece base setup I have on it. It just looks wrong to me, maybe the base holes were drilled wrong on top of the rifle. The rear weaver style base hangs over the bolt 1/8 to 1/4"
