Whats up with that Dee? Nostalgia, what soured your heart on Glocks?
Now that snubbie does looks good! but I am a little surprised at your decision!
Oldshooter, it really has nothing to do with nostalgia, it is more along the lines of want, and even that is suspect with me. As a rookie my first duty gun was actually a Colt Diamondback 4 ", and then I was turned on to one of the best (in my opinion) duty weapons ever designed by Colt OR Smith. The Model 19 Smith. I wore two out on the range, and owned a dozen over the years, plus the Model 66 2 1/2 inch.
I think my problem is I'm getting lazy in my old age, and don't want to work at concealment. With the Glocks you have to make an effort to conceal it. With the Model 60 Smith, it just hides well.
I have used both the 357 magnum, and the 45acp seperately in the two confrontations I had, as an officer, and both did their job, but the 357 magnum, is just more versatile. My fighting days are over (I hope) and my attitude is if I can avoid a fight I will, but if I have to, it's gonna be up real close, and I know I can, and will, use the power of the 357 mag.
I guess I'm thinking more about the field with the 686. I haven't made up my mind, but I don't want any more guns, so I would sell the Glock and buy the Smith. I don't want or need another handgun laying around at my age. I just want, what I use. Decisions Decisions.
