Dump a bunch of the stickies
« on: December 03, 2009, 07:39:35 AM »
Time to clean out a bunch of the stickies, they are burning too much space on the first page and are of little or no use.  Larry

I am much happier now.  Larry

Alas, if only my own happiness could be purchased so cheaply...

I had been thinking the same thing for quite a while but had just not mentioned it. Same applies to several others such as the Cast Bullet Forum and/or Reloading Forum I seem to recall.

Yes better Tim but I still see at least a couple in there that to me just don't really rise to the level of a long term sticky to me. There are many reasons why a topic could be a sticky for a week to a month but few reasons for one to stay longer. FAQs and such yeah but polls and questions generally should be allowed to float after 30 days max.

I see stickies in some forums (not directed at this forum) with lots of helpful and useful info but in too many separate topics that should be combined into one helpful sticky either by adding the info via copy and paste or perhaps just linking to it there as an FAQ and a brief description plus link would be all that was there. Many forums have gotten to that point in my opinion.

Few forums should have more than three to four stickies long term. Of course it would have to be decided case by case but I can think of darn few that really should have more than that longer term.

I cut a couple more loose and added them to the FAQs.
