Hand gun hunting
« on: October 21, 2003, 01:03:10 PM »
Hey guys , Thanks for all of the previous information you have given me in the past, I would like to know now if anybody has tried the 180 COR-BON .357 on deer ? I bought a box this weekend and went and tried them on paper and shot very high at 50 yards I can fix that but would like to know if anybody has used them on deer or have ever heard of them being used.
Thanks Big Rig

I was looking for something like that to use in a Colt clone. Looks like just the ticket for deer.

But no one around here carries ANY 180gr. ammo and when I saw the prices of what they did have, I think I'll just spend the money on a new gun to go with 45 ammo I've already got loaded. I'm not set up for 357 but at nearly $1 a round, geez. How can people afford to practice if they don't reload? It would be cheaper to hire a bodyguard than to practice for self defense.

I can justify the relaoding. I've had my Dillon 20 years this year. I just don't have time to clean out a spot in the garage and get all the stuff I need to change over to this little caliber (been going 6-7 days a week for 2 years). I loaded about 30,000 44 mag loads the first 2 1/2 years I had it. I know what you mean. Back then I thought who would go to all the trouble to reload? I shot up the 3 boxes of ammo my buddy gave and went to buy some. I came out thinking, you know, if get a press.........

I finally did find Midway and some guy on gunbroker.com has some. Not too bad considering I won't have to buy....I mean won't get to buy another gun just yet.

Good call! First to answer your question. No, I don't shooot 180 out of my 357. I try to stay with the right boolet for the riflings in the gun. If I want a heaver boolet I go with a bigger cal. And you guys are 100% right! Reload is the best you can do for yourself. You match the load to the gun. If your wife gives you a hard time take her to the sporting goods store. And show her how much a box of boolets cost!!!!! Then explain to her that reloading is MUCH CHEEPER! Because you buy the componets on sale, and shoot a lot more for less.
Praise GOD, and pass the ammo!

Just be sure not to tell the wife that you really won't save any money by reloading, you'll just spend more time at the range.

Most women are all for you spending less money, but they don't much care for things that take time away from you getting your honey-dos done! :D
