My pawn shop Handi has earned it's keep!

I went hunting this afternoon to the same stand I got the 7 pointer from with my 500 Handi yesterday morning. My stand is in an old gnarly maple overlooking a grown up field with woods behind me and a big deep hollow in front of me. The wind was blowing something fierce and some of the gusts had me talking to the Lord about keeping the maple erect. About 5:15 I spotted a doe directly in front of me. I could only see her head because the deep hollow drops off pretty quick and I can't see all the way to the bottom of it. I slowly stood up in my stand and this gave me just enough elevation to see her body. I gently cocked the hammer as I shouldered the 30-06 Handi and when the crosshairs settled on her shoulder the max load of IMR-4350 pushed the 165 grain Core-Lokt bullet precisely where I wanted it to go. The deer dropped so fast I didn't even see her go down! There isn't much you can say about the old '06 that hasn't already been said, They just plain work!
This is the HX serial # Handi I bought at a pawn shop back in the summer that is absolutely in like new condition. I got it for $160 out the door, couldn't pass it up!
Sorry I didn't take any pictures, it was dark when I field dressed her and now she is chilling out in the meat shed.

Congrats on the deer and on the $160 30-06. Some things just never go out of style and that surely describes the 30-06. It's still my go to do it all cartridge.

Way to go, Slufoot.  Now yer makin' me regret not pickin' up a new "06" for about $190 at the last "candy store" sale. :-[  Been on the shelf for a year, so they marked it down to 216.00 and then had a 15% off sale on all firearms.  Stop talkin about it or I may have to go back and pay the marked down price. :-\  DP
