.44 Mag Handi makes Kill #1..OOOPS + interesting behavior.

On two cold mornings at the ground blind, I stepped behind it to turn of the propane for some heat.  On both occasions a white snowshoe hare was snugged up to the tank and took off when I arrived.  The third time I turned the tank on he hopped off about 30 feet and stopped.  I had forgotten to take the chicken out of the freezer for supper before I left, so I figured bunny would work just as well.  I turned the red dot on and put it on his head.  He hopped, and the LE took him smack in the middle.  End of bunny supper thoughts.  It sorta blew him up.  Really felt bad about it to waste a bunny.

The interesting thing is that he was a totally white bunny in a totally brown environment.  I wonder if he was hugging the white propane tank to blend in.  Any thoughts?

"Sorta blew him up." ::)  Pete, I'm thinkin' that might be an understatement, I've seen what XTP's do to little brown ones. :o  Bunny fur floats on the air currents almost as good as chalk dust. ;)  DP

I did the same thing with a partridge at our hunting camp had the head all lined up and it darted forward as I pulled the trigger 44 mag LE blew it up.

Done the same thing but with 50cal. ML wound up with a three legged bunny that was gutted on the spot, bad part was I blew off the hind leg.We all hate wasting good meat but it happens sometimes.
