Conversion kit for P229

Got a 22lr conversion kit for my birthday last night. I put it on and worked the slide and everything seems fine. Looking at the box I see P229R is checked off. I have a standard 229, not a rail frame. There is another conversion kit made for the 228/229. Other than the rail I can't see a difference in the frames. Should I give this a try or bring it back?

While we have a lot of highly knowledagble people here that question should be for the experts.  Call SIG, their Customer Service folks have always been very prompt in getting me an answer.

Kepping the kit. Spoke with a sig rep. It's a cosmetic difference.
