Center punched a buck tonight!
« on: November 20, 2009, 02:01:17 PM »
I was so happy with the .243 last night on the doe, I took it out tonight and killed a fat 5 pointer.  He was slighty quartering away at 60 yards, and put the 95 gr Fusion in the pocket behind his shoulder, and blew right through the off shoulder, turning everything in between into jelly.  He ran about 40 yards, staggered another 10, and was down.  Im lovin this little round, it does the job quite well.  Now between the doe last night and him tonight, Ive got about 90 lbs of the purest protein on earth ;D
I've got to many but never enough!!!!

Sounds like the same performance my 15 year old got with his 243 and Fusion ammo.  Good stuff.  Congrats on the meat.  DP

You know, it's good to hear some success stories with the .243 after all the bad we hear.  I hope that once mine comes back repaired it will be as successful as yours.  Good shootin'.

Ive always kind of over looked the .243 for its lighter bullets and energy, and the 30/30 for its not so flat trajectory, but after these 2 deer with the .243 Im a believer.  And after seeing CW's posts with his 30/30, Im thinking I need one for next year ;D ;D

Great job. My Handi 243 has put down several. Those will be good eating.

Congrats Buckslayer! I shot a buck Tuesday with the 95gr fusion. Double lung shot had quarter sized hole through the lungs and exit. Went about 30 yards. Very nice round for the ole 243.
