I need some expert advice. I am looking at getting a new deer rifle. I am thinking something in .270 or 25.06. I have read the boards and have come up with three. Of the three I would like your input. I hunt mostly deer at ranges from 100-300 yards. Rifle weight does not matter, accuracy does. I am thinking of Savage, Tikka, or a CZ. Cost is not a big issue, BANG for the buck is. How do these rifles stack up against each other. Thank you for any and all views.

Obviously people here like all three. I think out of the box you cannot beat a Tikka. Barrel, trigger etc... the Tikka whitetail hunter deluxe is a great rifle. No messing around with trigger jobs etc... Read the posts on this forum. And have fun shopping . . . it is one of the best parts of getting a new rifle.

You are going to get a variety of responses, but my choice would be CZ in 270win, as I like traditional mausers. You get controlled round feed, big extractor claw, 3 position safety, 3 lug action and a good basis from which to build a custom rifle if you are ever inspired!

I'm with Ringo on this one. The CZ rifles offer great value and have never let me down.

Personally I ALWAYS go with choice #4 Remington. Get you a Remington LSS Mtn. Rifle in .270 Winchester.

Hi All,

As I understand it all three makes you ask about have a good name.................. so if I were you I would take myself on down to a sporting store and try out them all and see which felt the best to me when I shoulder it. Do the sights line up without having to move the head? Which fits ME the best and then would buy that one.

As I don't kow much about the 25-06 and have zero experience with it but have 3 rifles chambered in .270 I will say .270 all the way :wink:

my self I chose the 270 Win in Winchester. I know they are around but I don't know if they are still made scence that Win. plant closed.

#2 Tikka in .270

#3 Savage in .270!

The folks suggesting that you pick them up in a side-to-side comparison are spot-on. My personal choice would be a .270 Winchester in CZ 550 American based on my experience with the rifles. Tom Purdom

If looks aren't important, I'd go with Savage in .270. The accu-trigger helps in the accuracy department as well.
