Just ordered a 357 sb1, shotgun barrel and reamer question
« on: November 18, 2009, 06:09:25 AM »
Went to the local Big R store and showed em a printout of the Bud's advertisement for a 357
for $209. They ordered one up and gave me the same price.

Going to order a youth stock for my boy to use next year too.
I would like to get a 20 gauge barrel for him too-

Which barrel would be best for Turkeys?

What is the latest on where to get a reamer to make it the 357 a max?

Congrats! I chose the 20ga Topper Deluxe Classic barrel, it's got some weight to it to counter heavy turkey loads, yet recoil is very tolerable, performance with Hevi-shot with the right tube is excellent. How well the MC stock works with the shotgun barrel depends on your anatomy tho, many find the comb too high, the old style syn stock works fine for me with sights mounted on the vent rib, the other reason I chose the TDC barrel.

Read the 357 Max Reamer sticky in the brown section near the top of this list.

I went with the Pardner 20 gauge screw in choke because I like the light weight of it for carrying but Tim's recommendation of the 20 gauge TDC is probably the better choice for turkeys because it has a vent rib which gives you the option of mounting rifle sights.

Thanks a bunch.

I was thinking of the youth stock for the 20 gauge. It is a Monte too?

Will the SB1 action be any concern in 357 max?

The Max on an SB1 question is asked a lot, here's a previous discussion on it.
