Well, no luck this morning for me.  Saw several but passed on them because they were too small.  I was hoping for a large doe or buck.  I hunt for meat so I would have taken a doe but only saw young ones and a spike.  Saw a nice 6pt but he never would give me a place to shoot.  All I saw was head and antlers...snuck off behind the trees without ever giving me a shot.  :'(

Was going to hunt in the morning but I have to teach Sunday School tomorrow.  Guess I'll have to wait until next weekend.  I may take Friday off work and see what happens.  I hate getting out of work now at 5pm and it's dark by 5:45pm.   >:(

I dropped a really nice 8 pt this morning 20" spread and 2"+ at the bases The guys at the processors guessed he'll go 180+, Shot him at 8:50am with my .280 Handy rifle about 150 yard shot prolly a little less, In Madison co just outside Richmond. ;D

Shot my first deer with a handgun yesterday! Used a t/c in 357 B&D.  Distance was about 100 yards. Three does came out from a trail by edge of woods and I shot the biggest one.  Was on a farm in Oldham County.

Nice deer!  I've seen a monster hanging around at dusk before season started.  I'm hoping to find him one morning with my .30-06.  ;)

Well...

I was sitting in the house wearing my orange, opened the window when three does were out in the back of the house and shot the biggest one in the head at about 30 yards. My hunt was done by 7:40, finished up my morning snack and then cleaned her and took her over to the processor, they said she would go about 140. I am out in Mercer county, so no I am not near other people, and yes I asked the game warden if that was ok since they seem to be out there every morning. I could have shot a second one after I finished up my snack, but didn't feel like cleaning two in one morning  ;D I figure I will try to get another one sometime this week after work. I get off work at 6:30am so I just stay up a little later for it.

I'd love to do it that way! haha  They hang around my yard all year long until season is in.  I swear someone gives them a calendar every year!

I killed a good ten pointer Tuesday morning. My first buck since 2006. My daughter and I saw a deer(unable to tell what it was)on opening morning. Saw a lot of turkeys though, one gobbler looked like a black beach ball with feathers and a beard dragging the ground. He best move out before Dec. 5th or I'll eat him for Christmas dinner. We are hunting a portable blind, so he best not come within bow shot of it in the next few days, or I'll eat him for Thanksgiving.  ;D ;D ;D
