I got a bobcat with my 257 wby

Here's a couple pictures:







The down side is I shot him at 30 yards. It sure blew him up badly, trust me, this is the "good" side.

Sure put him down quick though.

They are easy to mess up.  I shot one with a 30-30 at 50 yards and I could stick my fist in the hole it made.

Sorry guys I hadn't checked back to this thread in a while. I wouldn't even take pictures of the "bad" side, and if I had, there's no way I would ever post anything like that anywhere. I very much doubt that even Photobucket would allow that to stay on my account, let alone any forum I frequent.

Let's just say, it was a "mess" and call it good!

The plus side was, at least I didn't have to track him.

I bet you didn't. I can't imagine anything coyote size or less hit with a .257 WM that would need to be tracked no matter how poor the hit was. I used a .243 once on a feral cat and let's just say it came from together to apart. Serious mess and the .243 isn't nearly the same power level as the .257 WM.

Well I was actually out deer hunting at the time. He just walked up the game trail I was standing on.

If I'd have been gunning for bobcats, I would have taken my .223, or even my 22 hornet at that distance.

 Knowing the 257 Wby ballistics I bet there isnt anything on the other side..

 Hit a yote at about 50+ yards with my 270 WSM launching the 130gr win. supreme and it literally canoed him out..
