A Day of Remembrance
« on: November 11, 2009, 09:20:25 AM »
I know this is kind of off topic, but I think this day is important enough to go astray. So, two videos for your consideration.

Thank you, GA. I kind of thought that would be the reaction, but always best to let people know I know it may be off.  Easier to get forgiveness than permission.

Thanks, SBG.  Those both always get to me. The first makes me think of St. Paul in his second letter to the Church in Thesseloniki: "Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle."  And also his first letter to the Church in Korinth: "Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong."

And I think nothing is louder than the silent rebuke of others.

The second shows that no matter the differences and rivalry, we are all brothers.  But I do like the upmanship in it.  I think a Navy/Marine rivalry would have been better, or more humorous, but the point was made with the Navy/Army rivals.  Two old E-7s, gotta love 'em.

(a personal aside. Some years ago in a pottery class I was a TA for at the local junior college there was an older gentleman, WWII vet.  Got to talking with him about his service. Turned out he hd been in the Navy, and on the same ship my dad was on as a Seagoing Marine. Small world)
