Started to reload some 223 for Handy and thought I'd check how far to the lands the bullet was. Took a resized inert brass and barely started a 52gr bth in it, marked the ogive with a marker and chambered it to get an idea how far to lands. Usually like to run about 20 thou. freebore. But when I removed the case and bullet from chamber, I found that the bullet hadn't even touched the rifling. That is the longest bullet I have so my question is, is this typical for these rifles to have a long chamber? If so, what length does everyone typically load at? thanks Dave
