Not sure if it is a good idea to try these loads on a deer. At these velocities the bullet will probably not expand.
I gotta agree there, in fact you're just throwing money away using an expensive jacketed bullet for that load. A soft cast bullet with a gas check in around 200 gr would be what you'd really want. I shoot a "wheelweight" soft (medium hard) 180gr cast bullet at 1880fps in my 7.62x39.
I tried one low power load - 5.0gr Unique with a 160 gr Lee tumble lube cast - it was still much loader than I wanted. It was quite accurate & the guys at the range got a kick out of hearing the impact at 75 yards a few milliseconds after the shot. Had to aim half-way between the crosshair center and the lower 'fat' post in the scope reticle.
I need to try a 200gr .311 & see what I can do.
