Afghan election results miss the point

The de facto government in Afghanistan is the Taliban. It doesn't matter whether Karzai was elected.

No it doesn't especially since his competitor has dropped out of the run off. That whole mess over there is a, well mess. Always has been, always will be.
We have recently learned the the CIA under the Bush administration had Karzise's brother, a drug dealing war lord on OUR PAYROLL. Gosh, what an employee he must be, and STILL IS.
Too many deals with the devil have been made for too long.

The Bush administration allowed Karzai to re-establish de facto sharia law in Afghanistan.  The same religious police who tortured women when the Taliban ran the place are doing the same under Karzai.
