Opening Day for Maine residents today, regular whitetail firearms season.....heavily overcast, humid 68 degrees farenheit, breezy. I hunted right in back of my house as i have a deer "super highway" following the upper rim of a large hill in the woods there......and I had a nice large antlered buck eating my hostas and rhodadendrens this summer twice in broad daylight just 40 feet from my house!.......but alas, although i sat on my stand on that trail for a little over 5 hours today, no sign of the buck.
oh well, cooler weather and the rut are still to come.
