where did I see a picture?

Hi guys, somewhere on this site just yesterday I saw a picture of a survivor stock with a recoil pad on it, where the heck is that picture/thread and how did the recoil pad get on it?...Thanks....<><....:)

I didn't see it but I'm still trying to wade through 48 pages of unread posts that have accumulated.   :o

We put a 'Kick-Eez' slip on recoil pad on a buddies Survivor. He has a spinal cord injury and doesn’t take recoil so well…it takes the bite out of 20ga slugs so that he can return to deer hunting. And the added length fits for him also with the 223 barrel for fun.

We saw them at Bass Pro one day and before we returned had measured the Survivor’s stock…I ‘think’ it took the medium slip on, but it fits tight and looks good.  Left the removable butt cover on incase the storage area needs utilized.

At home the 'Kick-Eez' slip on recoil pad fit. So long story short…frame to H&R, 22" 20ga barrel fitted. Then had it drilled and tapped for weaver base, red loctite for the base, blue loctite on the screws…4x pro-diamond dialed in. a tag filled…

This year he’s all pumped up about coming to Deer camp, it’s nice when a plan comes together.

My brother and I set up 30-06 (one NEF, one H&R marked) with the ATI collapsable stock http://www.atigunstocks.com/products.aspx?category=14&page=1&id=23 for the kids.  We used a Limbsaver slip on over the stock.  This works well for the different kids, and as they grow, since the length of pull fits them well.  The Limbsaver does a great job and the kids aren't bothered by the recoil from full house 180gr loads

My only problem with the stock is it is ugly.  I don't use the forearm, since I don't like the look or feel, but the stock is wonderful.

I'd be concerned about shooting anything with much recoil in the ATI stock, here's what happens when a collapsible stock collapses with a scope mounted on it.  :-\

OUCH!!!.....I agree, that picture makes me winch a bit every time I see it. It is why I will never us an ATI stock on a centerfire gun, not on any centerfire rifle or on  any shotgun. Perhaps on a BB gun or a .22 rimfire, but nothing with any more recoil that that. IIRC that was an ATI stock that collapsed into that members forehead.

*****pricecw, PLEASE, don't let your children use a centerfire with an ATI stock, take it off and throw it away, Just get a youth stock for them on that 30-06 or cut down an adult stock. You are playing with thier health and safety using that setup, don't gamble on thier injuries....<><....:)

Seen that on none collapsible stocks also.  Question, was the latch engaged when this happened?  That is the one thing that worries me about the ATI, if you don't engage the latch, it will slip.  I will shoot these a little more and decide, but I would be interested in this, since I looked at the stock early when I got it, and it feels very solid.  I will walk through them to be sure though, I don't tend to ignore warnings without looking.

One problem with youth stocks vs something like the ATI, having the correct length of pull for a youth is critical to reduce felt recoil.  With that in mind, a youth stock does not fit kids from 12 to 17, ranging in size from under 5 ft to over 6'4".  Anyway, thanks for the pic Tim, I will go and do some research and look at the stock.  Deer is over here for the year, so this isn't going to get much more this year.

My old shooting coach got bit the first time he shot a deer, back when he was a kid. IIRC he was using an Enfield.
Anyway, the scope position was OK for shooting off a bench, but he shot the deer from the prone position which placed his head closer to the scope. Scopes didn't have rubber pads on the ocular bell back then.
