most popular costom barrel
« on: October 17, 2009, 10:32:41 AM »
I'd like to know what the most popular costom barrel for a handi .... I belive a lot of .357 max ..45-120,,, 30-30 AI's and .22 hornet K's.... And of the non H&R   -- is the .32-20   Or 25-35    ......  I'll bet some have 6.5mm handi's... I've hear of 9mm.  Any one have a .45 ACP, or a 10 mm handi ?

H&R once made 7 x 57  and 7.62 x 39,,  did that ever make a factory 32-20?   Tell me about some other small run.

Looks like Right now H&R make 18 differant calabers in center fire..How does that compare to the 80's and 90's  ---Or even the 50's

Other them  belted magnum, what doesn't work ?

What people seem to want are 32-20's and 17 Remington Fireball.  32 H&R mag is up there also.  Then some of the larger stuff in 35-XX etc.  There are always the people wanting the Belted Mags, but that isn't likely to happen.  Larry

The only 2 custom calibers I have are the 7-30 Waters and a 30-30 AI that is a bored out 223 barrel, not just a rechambered 30-30.  Both shoot quite well, and both done by Wayne York.  MY BAD! :P  My son also has a 22 shotgun compliments of Larry!  DP

I have an early (good) .35 Whelen barrel and a first year, if not one of the first, or perhaps the first, 7x57 barrels. I also have a .357 Max from a .357 Mag, a .35 Remington from a .357 Mag, a .45 ACP stubbed barrel, a 30-40 Krag from a 30-30. and a .22 Mag Versa Pak from a .22 LR. I have a few more one of a kind barrels, 18.5" 20 guage with screw in chokes, 12 guage 24" smoothbore with screw in chokes and a scope rail, 12 gauge Tracker II with a scope rail, a 22" 45-70 barrel with a ladder rear sight and front firesight. I am sure I must have a couple (or a few) more "different" barrels. The ability to change these so easily and so economically to what you need, or what you want, is a great part of thier appeal....<><....:)

almost forgot, I have a .22-250 that started as a .22 Hornet, then became a botched rechamber to a .223 Remington, came to me, and then became a .22-250...it shoots good!!!

I 'm hoping that getting more barrels for my handi rifle isn't to shallow of a goal for my life.....

OK for real -- I picked up a couple take -off  barrel at gun shows -- I'm working on getting a stub , lug, going -- and more H&R barrels...

I'm happy I found a place where so many good people share ideas ....
