Dancing lessons?
« on: October 11, 2009, 12:04:28 PM »
My kids are growing to the point where they don't want us around, my wife and I have been dating again (i.e., going out to dinner or someplace without the kids.) We think it makes sense to learn to dance because there are places to dance nearby. How do you learn to dance? Are there lessons? Thanks.

Quester, My wife likes to dance. I can't dance a lick. I just tell her I like to hold onto the women who can!

There is a club not far from here that gives dance lessons 2 days a week. Work keeps me from attending. I would bet there would be someplace like that close to you also. The only other places around here that teach dance seems to be geared more to Ballet and acrobatics and cater to school age crowds.

First of all congratulations on beginning to get your life back.   Our one and only is 10 so taste of freedom are somewhat limited for us at this point.

As for the dancing, what kind of dancing do you think you might be interested in?  If you like country music line dancing could be a lot of fun.  Check the WWW or local entertainment section of the newspaper for country western dance clubs.  Most offer dance lessons at least one night a week.

If your taste run more toward soft rock, 80's dance music, disco, etc. check the same sources for dance schools in your area such as the Arther Murry School of Dance, etc. they should have instruction for everything from waltzing to modern dance.

Good luck and have fun.

Around here every community center has free dance lessons - 5 weeks we learned tango and foxtrot, next 5 weeks swing and cha cha. Seems like everyone there is in the same boat.

Questor.  There should be someone nearby who offers dance lessons.  About 15-16 years ago the wife and I took lessons from a young lady at the YMCA, it was a real hoot, we had a ball (no pun intended).  For graduation we all met at a local club and danced the night away.

We don’t dance much today due to the wife’s health, but still have many good friends we met at dance class.  I recommend you go for it.

go to the local honkytonk, the ruffer the better, chiks like adventure. then give her about 6 or 10 slow dances, interspersed with shots of wild turky. she will be happy trust me.always worked for me!

I don't even know what my tastes are for dance music. I'll just have to adapt to the local situation.
