My wife and I both quit last February after 30+ years of smoking using Chantix. Chantix can have some weird side effects but works way better than anything else we had tried. About three months after quiting my step daughter moved in with us and she smokes and my wife and I have not started again so I think that was a good test. It seemed like it was about six months to really start feeling the benefits of not smoking.

Hang in there.  They say it is the worst of all drugs to come off.

I quit 21 years ago. Quit cold turkey with the help of prayer, and never looked back.
Perhaps some people are more addicted than others, and some just smoke as a nervous habit
I was a pack to a pack and a half smoker for about thirty years, and I have never had the urge to smoke since I quit. My sister quit smoking about ten years ago, and says she thinks about them to this day.

My wife still smokes, and if she runs out of smokes, she goes into orbit ;D
You would think I would have saved money when I quit, but"NO" She doubled up on the damn things, and the Socialist Republic we now live in has quadrupled the cost of them. "Damn I hate Cig's"

I quit drinking so long ago that the doc had to order me to take 4 fingers of red wine every day for my cholesterol problem, he was after me for 20 years to quit smoking because he knew I would have a pulmonary problem, turned out a blockage got me to give them up.

48 hours. Still going strong. Still sucks     Hacking up all kinds of lung butter

Burntmuch, You don't know nothing about "lung butter" till you find you have COPD.  My wife smoked at one time, she quit many years ago but the damage was done. Today she can provide you with a quart of "oysters" in an hour or so, she was on oxygen full time but has been able to get off during the day time unless it is a real moist day, then she has to get back on the bottle.  Her doctor said she didn't think smoking was the total cause for her condition but that is contributed greatly to her problem.

I think that if any smoker lived wiith someone who suffers from COPD for a week they would put the "butts" down and not look back.

Still going strong. Ive had a few moments of weakness. Couple mornings at the fire station I bummed a smoke. Tasted pretty nasty. I think Im gonna pull it off this time. I feel pretty good. No more wheezing when I lay down. The first couple days were pretty tuff though. Coughed alot, & just about every smell out there would make me wanta puke. Now when I have a craving it last about 10-15 mins then its gone.
I dont care what gun Im using as long as Im hunting

I quit on August 24th of this year, again, after several failed attempts. I'm done this time. And I'm sticking back all the money I used to spend on cigarettes to buy guns!!

I quit smoking in April of 1984 while in the ENT ward at the Pittsburg, PA VA hospital for plastic surgery on my nose.  Was sitting on my bed smoking and chatting with a cute black nurse.  Commented on all the really sickly guys on that ward and asked her what was wrong with them.  Her reply:  "They are all dying from smoking and I suggest that smoking is going to kill you too."  My reply:  "I suggest that smoking will not kill me because I'm quitting right now."  Put out my cigarette, threw the pack and lighter in the trash and never looked back.  That lady saved my life.

Quit last may with a little help from laser therapy.

What's that?

It's similar to acupuncture but uses a laser instead of needles. The company in minnesota that does it is called breathe laser. Their website is www.breathelaser.com

If you annualize the cost of smoking, you will definitely have enough to buy a very nice gun at the end of the year. And you should plan on doing that for inspiration and reward, since you deserve it.
