.35 Whelen found.
« on: September 25, 2009, 10:45:39 AM »
I found a new .35 Whelen Handi (Serial NW) at a local gun shop.  Any idea how the older (2006) Whelens stack up to the new ones (2009)??

THANKS!

Mark

The 2006 model is the one with the troubles and why it was discontinued, but many worked fine, too many had problems tho. Have seen no reports of problems on the 2009s yet. I've got a 2006 that I had rechambered to Improved, have only shot fire forming loads in it, but all 30 rounds I shot went into a 2½" group at 100yds, the previous owner shot a dozen factory Rems in it with no problems. Go for it if it's priced right, the new ones won't be available again until next year. Matt's was a 2006 model, link below to his range report.
