"Nail polish" for your horse?
« on: September 17, 2009, 01:58:40 AM »
I was at the farm supply place the other day and they have a good tack section. Until then I never knew there was special sparkly hoof polish for horses, and special tinted chalk paint that you can paint your horse with (then easily comb or wash it out later). There are all kinds of horse cosmetics available. There's all kinds of adornments for manes. It's amazing what you miss in life until you enter somebody else's hobby domain.

I've really missed that. I have seen horses with shiny black hoofs at fairs, but I always assumed they just used shoe polish to do it.

Now I'm beginning to wonder whether "lipstick on a pig" is something that people really do.

Of course they do....who'd be caught kissing a pig that wasn't wearing lipstick.  ::)

We always used shoe polish and baby oil.

As a side note:

A horses skin is more sensitive than a humans so any product made for a horse is perfectly safe to use on humans.
Lots of products made for humans will burn a horses skin.

My wife has below the butt length hair and uses MAIN and TAIL conditioner all the time!
Well she is a pretty little filly!!! ;)

My son and his wife are in to showing western pleasure horses. They spend hours and many dollars on getting the horse ready to be walked around the arena. and Longtom is right, more mane and tail go for womens hair than goes to horses.

What do you thing slim? Are the horses cheaper to maintain than the children?
