Prices on Handi's
« on: September 03, 2009, 12:07:17 PM »
I was in a local gunshop in Omaha and they had pallet wood Handi's at $219,sythetics at $229 and cinnamon laminates at $265. I thought this was a pretty fair price, what do you think?  Have't bought a new one for awhile and can't seem to remember what I gave for the last one. They all where SB2 receivers with 22" standard blued barrels. Looked for a Hornett but they had none.   Zeak

That's less than they are going for around here.

Walmart lists the synthetic handi with 22" barrel for $249.99. Dicks has them for $239.99 out of there special order catalog which was a big surprise to me.

I am never too proud to admit my ignorance. What does the reference "pallet wood" refer to? The low quality wood used in stocks and forearms?

It just means some other hard wood other than walnut.  Perhaps beech or birch.  I don't understand the big deal about it.  Around here, we burn it all in our wood stoves and smile :D  Maple too.

I don't understand the big deal about what kind of wood it is.  It's probably going to get some dings anyway.
Wood quality doesn't affect performance. I'd rather have the money saved.
