quick break down / quick to assemble
« on: August 31, 2009, 06:18:42 AM »
anyone ever carry their handi  or shotgun broke down?

for what ever reason  to fit a back pack or fitting tool box, legal ,safety reasons

what about a modified forarm so barrel lifts off as soon as opened?

it  would be an  ideal  bikers rifle or shotgun

any pictures of the modified for end?

you can slap a loaded barrel on  about as fast as
you can  open---insert round--and close

another advantage
carry both rifle and shotgun
walk to your stand with a shotgun....swap  when  you set up
mount either the other slid into  the back of your belt

just some thought    wondered if any one acted  on the same thoughts

when drugs are outlawed only out laws will have drugs
DO WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO STOP A DEMOCRAT
OBAMACARE....the biggest tax hike in the  history of mankind
free choice and equality  can't co-exist
AFTER THE LIBYAN COVER-UP... remind any  democrat voters ''they sat and  watched them die''...they  told help to ''stand down''

If the barrel lifted off when opened, it would fall off each time you opened the action to load it!  :o

Best advice is use a forend screw with a knob as shown in the FAQs, ala Survivor. Travel cases are also shown in the FAQs, I keep a 17hmr Sportster in one in the storage area under the rear deck of my SUV, I also keep a torque sensing screwdriver in the case since consistent  screw torque is essential for good accuracy.

It's possible that you can remove the spacer from the back of a wood forearm and have it work the way you want. (I've never tried it)

Or, if you really want to save weight, replace the forearm with a chunk of gray foam pipe insulation or 'pool noodle'.

Just checked out the torque driver in the article and Midsouth ($47). Have you found any consistent torque settings for any particular Handi tasks that you could pass along to others?

25 in/lbs for the forend screw, that's in the FAQs, the same torque setting works for 6-48 scope base and ring screws.

My oldest handi is a take down!!  Its makes for one "handi" handi!! LOL..

I chopped the barrel down so both are same length. (About 20" or so) and added a big brass bead. Its GREAT for camping and taking in the Jeep on trails. You never know when you need a good 12Ga.
