Senator Rogers of Michigan speaks out.
« on: August 27, 2009, 11:54:47 AM »
I wish more of our State Senators were like this guy.   He read the proposed health care plan and is speaking out against it.  Also sounds like he's against Government intervention in other areas as well.

Haven't met anyone who has actually read it that thinks it's good, or reform of any kind.
I have met people who are all for it, that have not read it it all,  I always advise them to read legislation, and also remind them that many of their representatives admit not reading it.  I wish more people would have read the pork package before it passed and raised cain about that, too late on that one though.  Some people actually think your making things up when you tell them what's in it, you print it up for them to read, and they are so stuck in their party they still don't believe it, even when it's in front of them.  Sad deal for Americans who think on their own.  There is a ton of bad things in this health care bill, so bad in fact, it can't be cleaned up, it needs to be thrown out and they need to start over, or do nothing at all.  At this point, nothiing at all sounds good, since all government programs are busted, including government itself.  Nothing sounds real good.

Well, I've made it a little project to read as much as I can, and I'll tell you it's virtually incomprehensible to me in matters of detail. However, three things are clear:

1) The basic proposal is that citizens will not get to choose their medical care options, a bureaucracy will do it for them

2) It may have the effect of solidifying the oligopoly of large insurers in some populous states

3) Because the makeup of a bureaucracy is susceptible to change due to political majorities in government, the types of treatment and the levels of coverage are also susceptible to change. For example, when Republicans are in power, then abortion and sex change procedures may not be covered. Also, treatment for illegal aliens may be severely restricted. Of course, it works the other way too. This also extends to the national drug formulary. I.e., it limits the variety and availability of drugs that will be dispensed.

My interpretation of the bill is that it is a terrible execution of a terrible idea. We should be up in arms about it. Write your senators and representative.

Read as much as you can, you'll find lots of things in there...

PG 65, Sec 164: Creates special, federally-subsidized coverage for Unions and "Community Organizing" groups.
Pg 95, Lines 8-18: The mandatory use of ACORN and Americorps for signing up Americans to government insurance.
PG 124, Lines 24-25: Bans companies from suing the federal government, bans the entire judicial system from hearing any cases on the legitimacy of this blatantly unconstitutional socialist health care takeover (no judicial review allowed whatsoever).
PG 59: The federal government accesses your bank accounts for mandatory funds transfers.
PG 127, Lines 1-16: Instructs doctors/AMA on what salaries they are allowed to make.
PG 85, Line 7: Limits what private insurers can offer (rationed care)....
PG 58: The creation of a national ID health card and a comprehensive federal database containing streaming data on every American's personal financial records.

Way too many to list...but 10 billion has been set aside for section 164 (Unions)  and you can imagine how much they will spend on each item...and none of this of course is reform of anything.

The entire thing is laced with things like this and worse.  And it is really hard to comprehend for sure, with lot's of refrences to other laws and other sections, but it gets pretty clear if you keep reading and looking and searching.  Lot's of it is made fuzzy and unclear purposely, so they can do what they want no matter what.
