Firearm company against gun club
« on: August 27, 2009, 04:53:53 AM »
This might be old news, as the letter is dated from March of '08. But I thought it was interesting reading. Seems the wife of the Wildey pistol inventor, a Linda Moore, sent a letter to the Litchfield,Ct. planning commission, trying to get them to close the White Oak Gun Club, because of noise.
Seems her husband,Wildey Moore had a stroke, and she can't maintain the house, so she put it up for sale. And she's had some buyers that supposedly backed out, because of the noise of the gun club.
While I certainly feel for her, and the trouble's she has with her husband,(he might even have passed away by now, don't know). I find it quite ironic that the product that allowed them to buy the house, is something she's against. Does anybody know how this turned out?  gypsyman

I haven't heard of this but it doesn't surprise me.

We had a very nice gun club that I used to go to. Some developer bought the farm land across the road from it and put up a bunch of houses. The people that bought the houses complained about the noise and eventually the gun club closed down.

Imagine that, who is dumb enough to buy a house across the street from a gun club and be surprised there's shooting going on.

It's the same by me. People buy a house right by the airport and complain about the planes. ::)

Our neighbors out at the farm use to complain about our range practice. Which I ignored we were there long before they showed up.
But then someone put in a Moto Cross Track now they wish it was only me snapping off a few rounds on the weekend. ;D
We also had a new church built next to a dairy that had been there since before I was born, They complained about the smell and sued the
Dairy is no more. I wish all those snobs would move back to town where they belong they are worse than carpet baggers.

We've had cases like that in my neck of the woods. There's a range in White Bear Lake, MN that's been there for 50 years or so and people who move in now complain that there's a range. I'm surprised how many people don't drive around the neighborhood before buying a house.

I was looking at one house and it looked pretty decent until I drove around the neighborhood and found that it adjoined a big retired land fill. Furthermore, the house got water from a shallow sand point well. I called the pollution control agency and asked about how the leachate from the landfill would be flowing, and they were surprised to learn that there were houses with shallow wells that close to the landfill.

Your subject line is grossly misleading. The wife of a man who long ago invented a gun that has not been made in over 20 years hardly qualifies as a "gun company". That her husband was pro gun does not mean she is. He didn't get rich off that design by any means. It was a flop. Tell the news of course but tell it properly without the kinda slant the anti's do.
