Man, been a long, long 6 weeks! I finally got some shop time and have actually finished several in the last week as well as some other "fun" projects!
This is the one I posted the rough blade for waaay back the beginning of Summer that we did the cable damascus billets at the hammer-in I hosted.
Blade was made from really high carbon steel alloy cable. I've been pretty impressed with the edge-holding on this one as well as the dark etched finish. This has been rubbed with 5000 grit polishing paper to make the pattern pop a bit and had to be rubbed pretty firmly to remove the dark color. usually the darkness in cable damascus just rubs off.
Handle is a very dark, but highly figured pattern set of ironwood scales with nickle pins. Sanded down to 400 grit, then buffed to a glass-like surface with white rouge.
OAL ~9.5-10"
Blade thickness ,little under 3/16 at spine, tapering distally.
I think this is my favorite modern knife I've ever made as far as overall look and feel in the hand. I'll definitely be doing more.
