Quick, Probably Stupid, Question
« on: August 19, 2009, 07:54:51 AM »
I have read the FAQs and think I have the answer, but...Can I put a 20gauge barrel on my SBA-Y43 Youth Handi-rifle in 243?  Serial is CBAXXXXXX and I understand this to be an SB2.  The barrel does not have SB2 stamped on it anywhere.  I recently bought this thing new.

It is heading out today for a warranty repair and it seems like a good idea to have them fit a shotgun barrel on it while it is there.  Would I have them do the Youth Shotgun on this thing?

Thank you very much for your help!

You're welcome! A little note on the barrel markings.....regardless of what's marked on the barrel, SB2 or otherwise, the frame is the determining factor,  recent production 357mag and 44mag barrels are usually marked SB2 because when they made the run of barrels, they were only putting them on SB2 frames, but they've been putting them on SB1 frames for over a year now, consequently the barrel markings have no bearing on frame type. So if you have a question on frame type in the future, compare it to the pics in the FAQs, there are consistent differences between how they're made and look, the most obvious is the SB2's skeletonized tang where it attaches to the butt stock.  ;)
