Is one better than the other as far as accuracy, fit, shooter comfort etc. H S has the aluminum vee block mts. and the McMillian has to be glassed as we understand. Which is preferred and why?

All the examples of both makers I've seen or owned have been top-notch, in my book.
I've used several McMillan's when building match rifles over the years because they were pretty much the only ones of their kind! Heavy and stiff (and heavy!) were points in their favor.
The H&S's have all been on lefty 700s I've acquired and I'm very happy widdem.
Not much help, huh? Having no bad choices is a happy dilemma!

I own both, and both feel fine. However, the McMillan seems, at least to me, to be a little bit better. I have been told, and from my experiences seem to believe, that the McMillan is stronger, at least in part, because the HS is more porus.

That's easy....look at some benchrest sites. McMillans win matches, you don't see HS mentioned anywhere, at least I haven't. I own 3 of them. Screwed up the finish on one of them, Mike McMillan fixed it, and turned it around within about 2 weeks free of charge, no shipping. Spendy but you get what you pay for.

I've got three McMillan stocked rifles and I have to say that they're the best I've ever seen! Worth every cent I paid for them! I bought a Rem 700 BDL SS in .300 RUM and the factory stock was junk! Went on-line to McMillan and he had an internet special stock for my rifle listed so I didn't have to wait for them to build one for me. :-D Rogue Ram is right, you get what you pay for! Old Syko? Were you ever over on the Marlin forum? The name is familiar, well anyway good luck with your choice! CEJ..

I use both, Mc's for hard use rifles and HS for hunting rigs. HS are lighter and you can pick up slightly used ones for cheap. Mc's- you can drive a truck over, but are heavier and pricier. Really depends one what you need from your stock.
