« on: July 31, 2009, 11:48:30 AM »
OK, S/S has a DIY replacement trigger that they claim will go down to 11 Oz. fot about $100.00.
Rifle Basix has one that they claim will go down to 4 OZ for +- $160.00
Does anyone have any experience with either ??

I have used both. I prefer the SSS triggers. I have six, all adjusted to 1lb. I replaced 3 Accutriggers with SSS. I started with Basix about ten years ago. I could never get all of the creep adjusted out. I am sure that they have been improved, but, I can't get away from SSS. IMHO they are the best aftermarket trigger available for the Savage/Stevens rifles. GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!
IF YOU'RE GONNA GET OLD,YOU BETTER BE TOUGH!! GETTIN' OLD AIN'T FOR SISSIES!!!

What is the SSS trigger?  I don't think I have heard of them.  My buddy has the $160 version of the basix trigger on his Remington 700, and it works really nice at about 4 oz. - no creep.  I was thinking about replacing the accutrigger on my Model 110 in .243, but I have gotten used to the 2 lbs. minimal setting on it too.  Not sure it is worth the price to replace it - some good quality paste on the sear will make these accutriggers crisper to pull too.....

Fred and Lisa are good people to deal with, and they have whatever you need for your Savage/Stevens.

I have 4 SSS and 1 RB Sav2 trigger on my guns. I dont really think you can go wrong with either one. I did find my Sav2 easier to fine tune the adjustments though when getting as light as I could.

If I were buying one new I think I'd just get the SSS. There's not much more gained for the price difference of the Sav2.

Once you use either one of these you'll wanna throw your accutrigger in the trashcan ;)

FYI, once you get it adjusted, be sure to put some nail polish or med strength locktite on the adjustment screws so they dont loosen. I had 1 SSS trigger do that till I used the locktite.
