.375 H&H on a Mauser Model 3000 action

Hi Guys

 

I'm new to the forum,and find it very interesting with loads of information.

I got a .375 H&H on a Mauser Model 3000 action.And I know it probably not the best DGR but it is a light and nice rifle to hunt with.It got a very smooth action and very accurate.

What I would like to know;

Are they popular.Any problems with the action.
Are the many of them around.
What year were they produced and used.(how old would the rifle be, anyhow to check)
And do anybody else have one in a .375 H&H

 

I bought the rifle some years ago from someone that used it once and bought a CZ to replace it.He found the recoil from this light rifle to much.He bought it form a German that said he ordered it from the Mauser Custom Shop.

 

Any help or info would be appreciate.

I believe you'll find that the M2000, 3000, and 4000 were made in the late 60's and were made for Mauser by Heym in Germany.  I have a M4000 that I bought new in 1971.  The M4000 is a nice lightweight rifle in .223.  I think the 2000s were 30/06 case size and 3000s magnums.  All nice lightweight rifles.  Never heard of any problems with them, my 4000 is super accurate.  Heym sold the same rifle under their own name at much higher prices than the Mauser version.

just looked it up and found, "the model 3000 was manufactured from 1971 to 1974 by Heym", also says excellent condition $500.

They are lightweight rifles.And it is a plesure to hunt with.
Find a 7mm Mag. on the net,also on a 3000 so sure the were for the Magnums then.

Friend of mine has a 35 Whelen on a Mauser 2000 - custom built. He's won a number of turkey shoots and whacked several very nice moose. Didn't seem like a light gun to me but it was a good one.  Expect the 3000 to be as good.
