I just received this email from Star's and Stripes Ammuntion. It's in regards to their ability to produce higher quality slug ammo for the small gauge shotguns.
Adam,
We make both 28ga and 410 Bore slugs. Our slugs are considerably more powerful than OTC slugs, and that's if you can find any in these calibers, especially the 28ga.
The 410 Bore is a real shocker with slugs. Our top loadings produce rifle like velocities in shotgun length barrels. Our 93gr Ball is blasted along at 2,850 fps in the 3" hull, and about 75fps slower in the 2-1/2"
If you have a fully rifled barrel chambered for 410, we can actually do a lot with that. I can load a 45 Colt bullet and duplicate the 45-70 very easily, but I can only use a brass hull for this loading as it has the internal space to accomodate the oversized bullet.
Pricing on both of these starts at $39.99/box of 25.

I believe that it may be necessary to exercise some caution, especially while dealing with the higher pressures associated with a cartridge that can duplicate 45-70. I guess it all depends on the gun being used. Also, I have sent back a reply asking for more info about the 28ga ammo to see if it is loaded with a bullet or ball. I'll keep everyone posted with what I learn.
Thanks, Dinny
